Despite some typically British weather, 84 Year 10 students completed a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition yesterday (Sunday 16 May).

The purpose was to give the students experience to help prepare for a Qualifying DofE Expedition in June. For many, it was the first time carrying an expedition pack and wearing in new walking boots. There were plenty of opportunities to test out their waterproofs, but all groups completed their circuit in good time and with smiles on their faces.

At the start of the day, the students had an opportunity to learn some camp craft, which involved putting up tents and safely using trangia stoves. These will be useful skills when they embark on their qualifying expedition.

Many thanks to all the staff who gave up their Sunday to support this group of students with their expedition training.
