Outdoor Pursuits Senior

Every year, we enter a number of teams for the Ten Tors Challenge on Dartmoor, an annual competition that is attempted by 2,400 teenagers in 400 teams of six. The teams navigate routes of 35, 45 or 55 miles (depending on their age) over the northern half of Dartmoor, visiting ten nominated tors in under two days. Each team must be self-sufficient, carrying all that they need to complete their route and equipment to sleep outside safely.

Ten Tors is a popular choice of outdoor pursuits at #KWSSenior School. The Ten Tors is not only physically arduous, but technically difficult. The event challenges their map reading skills, camp craft, independence and teamwork.

Every year we enter pupils from Year 10 and 12. This year we have two teams of Year 10 walking the 34 mile challenge and one team of Year 12 who will be walking for 45 miles. Last weekend, all of our teams completed another training expedition on Dartmoor in preparation for their competition on 28 April. We wish them all the best of luck!
