NURSERY FUNDING
The Garden is a registered provider for the Early Years Entitlement (EYE) funding which funds up to 12 or 24 hours per week for 45 weeks of the year for children from the term after they turn nine months.
The Garden claims these hours on your behalf. To check whether you are eligible for the funded hours, please apply on www.childcarechoices.gov.uk . If you are eligible, this will generate a code and you will need to complete the form issued by the nursery, giving us the code and a few more details so we can claim the funding back from BANES. This code must be verified by parents every three months, and the responsibility is on parents to do this. If the code is not valid or has lapsed, then full fees will be payable for the whole of that term. Any changes to sessions made during a term, such as additional days being added to a regular booking, will not be eligible for funding if the change is for less than a half term.
From September 2025, eligible working parents with a child from 9 months old up to school age will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare support a week. Non eligible parents will still be entitled to 15 hours of universal hours from the term after their child’s third birthday. 15 or 30 hours apply only to settings that offer just term time only places. As we are open for 45 weeks per year, this funding is stretched over all these weeks and therefore works out as 12 or 24 hours each week. Any sessions booked during our ‘extra’ weeks or as ad hoc sessions will not have the funding applied to them.
The funded hours cover basic childcare and can only be used in The Garden between 08.45 and 16.45 each day. These hours will be covered by the government funded rate and there will be no cost to you. We apply a voluntary opting in charge for items not covered by the government funding. These include the time between 8.00 and 08.45 and between 16.45 and 17.30, consumables, all meals and snacks, specialist lessons, and special events such as Christmas parties, workshops, parents’ events etc. Parents can not pick and choose which items they wish to include in their booking, and must opt in or out of the voluntary charge for the whole of the extended provision.
Funded hours are only claimable for actual attendance. If your child regularly arrives after 9am or is collected before 4:30pm, we may be unable to claim the full amount of hours. BANES reserves the right to withdraw funding in cases of regular absence, even with valid reasons such as illness or holidays. Nurseries must report frequent absences, but occasional illnesses or family holidays are permitted.
Any extra sessions not covered by the funding will be charged at normal fees. Please also note that normal fees will also apply for each session if you are not eligible for the funded hours.
If you have any further questions regarding the funding, please contact Anna Ballanger by email or via Famly for more information.
The Garden is also a registered provider of tax-free childcare. More information about help with childcare fees can be accessed at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk and any queries around this should be directed to Anna Ballanger.
STANDARD PROVISION AND ENHANCED PROVISION
Statutory Provision (Fully Funded)
This package covers only the basic requirements as defined by the EYFS framework:

LATE COLLECTION
Children collected late after their morning session or after 5.30pm will be billed for late care. For children collected after the nursery closes at 6.00pm, a charge of £15 will be applied to their bill.
REGISTRATION FEE & DEPOSIT
A non-returnable registration fee payment of £150 is due on application for a place. An acceptance deposit is then required for all nursery and prep school pupils.
All forms must be returned and the registration fee and deposit paid before settling in sessions can start.
The repayment of deposits is linked to the settlement of final fee invoices upon the departure of the pupil from The Garden or Kingswood Prep School.
Payment Terms & Conditions
Invoices are sent out monthly in advance and are to be settled within seven working days by bank transfer. Fees may be paid by direct debit. Interest of 2% is applied to any late payments.
Changes to Nursery Sessions
Although we like to be flexible and accommodate one-off plans and short-term changes of circumstance, we request a month’s notice for any reduction to a child’s regular booked sessions so that we can staff the Nursery classes appropriately. Additions to regular sessions are subject to availability and must be approved by the Head or Deputy Head of The Garden.
Additional incidental sessions or extra hours may be booked spontaneously, subject to space, with the approval of the Head or Deputy Head of The Garden. Sessions cannot be swapped around to take account of personal circumstances in any given week, and any sessions not attended, due to illness or holidays, will still be charged.
Notice Period
We request a full calendar months' notice in writing if you wish to withdraw your child from The Garden. For children leaving at the end of Pre-School to go elsewhere for Reception, we require a term’s notice in writing.
Opening Weeks
The Nursery operates for 48 weeks a year. Your contract is for 45 weeks per year and there are three extra weeks at set times (notified in advance) which can be booked as additional weeks if required. If you don’t require these extra weeks, then there is no charge for them. The usual session charges apply if you wish to use them. We are shut for two weeks over Christmas and the New Year, and for two weeks in the Summer, at the end of July/ beginning of August. We are also closed for Bank Holidays and for two INSET days at the beginning of KPS Autumn Term.
Uniforms
Children may wear uniform in our Foxes room and it is compulsory once they progress into our Preschool room at 36 months old.
