During the first week of half term, the Spanish department took 11 pupils to the outskirts of Madrid for the yearly Spanish Exchange.

Despite a disappointing weather forecast, all of the students gained a lot from the experience and showed real enthusiasm and motivation throughout.

Mr Walker and Mrs Pasco were impressed with the group’s behaviour and at the participants’ genuine interest in the tours they went on.

Students were seen taking notes of new vocabulary during tours, and all put their Spanish to the test in real life situations.

On the first weekend pupils spend time with their host families and, amongst other things, went to a Theme Park, trampolining and one luck student, Elliot, even went to see Atletico Madrid vs Leverkusen in the champions league!

During the week linguists visited the Unesco World Heritage cities of Toledo and Segovia, which is famous for its Roman aqueduct built in the 2nd century BC.

On the last days, all visited Madrid and enjoyed the excitement of the big city.
