Personal Visits

Here at Kingswood, we are delighted to welcome families on personal visits, ideally during term time and on a working day, as this is the best time to see the school community operating normally. As well as organising a meeting with the Headmaster or a member of the Senior Management Team, the Admissions team will also arrange a tour with one of our pupils. This will include a visit to one of our boarding houses and a chance to talk about entrance procedures with the Head of Admissions. Visits normally take place between 9.00am and 2.30pm and last around two hours.

Boarding families will also meet one of the House Parents. We like to invite our boarding families, especially those travelling from a distance, to have lunch or tea at the School during the visit. Boarding families should, therefore, allow at least three hours for their visit, and we would appreciate you booking your appointment at least 10 days in advance. To book a visit, please fill out the online form.

Registration

Following a visit to the School, the next stage in the admissions process is to register your child for entry. After registration, pupils will take their entrance exams. International students who cannot visit will be asked to forward school reports to the Head of Admissions, who will assess the reports for suitability before inviting a candidate to register.

Dates for registration vary slightly each year, but a guide is below:

  • Year 7 – November preceding the year of entry
  • Year 9 – January preceding the year of entry
  • Sixth Form – October preceding the year of entry

However, we do process applications all year round so please get in touch at any time.

Taster Days

We organise a taster morning for all pupils registered for Year 7, normally in the Autumn term of the calendar year prior to entry. During the morning, prospective pupils join our current Year 7 and 8s for a Chapel service, then take part in four subject lessons in the morning and end with lunch.

Accepted Year 7 pupils are also invited to a freshers' day in June to revisit the School, meet key members of staff and get to know their year group.

Individual taster days and nights for other year groups can be arranged by contacting the Admissions department.
