Mrs Francis, Kingswood Senior School Music teacher and Lower School tutor, has been undergoing the 'Frostbite Challenge' in the effort to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.

Every weekend over the winter months, Mrs Francis has been plunging into cold open water as part of her 'Frostbite Challenge' for Young Lives vs Cancer. She has swam in temperatures of minus four degrees, all in the hope of encouraging the pupils of Kingswood to be brave and step outside of their comfort zones.

Yesterday, our Senior School community gathered at Westwood House to support Mrs Francis in her final challenge. As the crowds, gathered and the suspense rose, Mrs Francis' nerves began to jangle as the ice bath began to ripple...

However, the tense atmosphere was quickly averted with cheering crowds and loud music as the countdown began!

Mrs Francis was able to sustain five minutes in the brain-freezing water. A fantastic achievement that not many could manage.

"It was a pleasure creating an event that inspired pupils to be engaged and interested in and, hopefully, we have enabled our young Kingswoodians to step beyond their comfort zones to achieve more than they might expect possible." - Mrs Francis
