Senior Trips and Visits

At the end of last term, 17 pupils travelled to New York City accompanied by Mrs Nash and Mr Francis, and joined by three students and a teacher from Oldfield School.

The group arrived in time to check in and have a rest at the hotel, right on the doorstep of the Flatiron building.

The evening was spent watching the sun go down over the iconic city from the lofty heights of the Empire State Building.

On the first full day, the group visited famous landmarks including Public Library, Times Square, Top of the Rock, Central Park and  the Rockefeller Centre before watching a preview performance of 'Beetlejuice'.

The second day was spent either shopping or marvelling at the amazing Art Deco interior of Radio City Music Hall, with the opportunity to stand on the stage and imagine performing to the 6,000 strong audience that the auditorium holds.

Then the group watched an incredible performance of 'Network' starring Bryan Cranston.

The thespians and designers amongst the group were wowed by its impressive mix of fabulous acting and state of the art technology.

Some students were fortunate enough to get a photo and autograph from Bryan at the stage door afterwards.

The final day was spent in downtown at Ground Zero, the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street and Washington Square before it was time to head back to the airport.

The students have been thanked for their excellent behaviour throughout and the Drama department hope to run this trip again in 2021 so pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11 will also have the chance to visit.
