Kingswood School has published its 2024–25 Social Impact Report, celebrating a year of remarkable community engagement, charitable giving and transformational partnerships. The launch coincides with the Independent Schools Council (ISC)’s Partnerships Week, highlighting collaboration across schools and communities.

Since moving to Bath in 1851, Kingswood has been proud to play a leading role in local life. Guided by founder John Wesley’s call to “do all the good we can”, in the past year alone pupils, staff and families have raised over £50,000 for charity and contributed more than 300 hours of service to local causes like Children’s Hospice South West. The Social Justice Group developed new partnerships with The Life Project and Southside, while Prep School pupils united around a Year 6 student’s story to support the RNLI, turning personal inspiration into school-wide action.

A cornerstone of Kingswood’s community engagement is its partnership with Mentoring Plus, through which Sixth Form students have provided one-to-one mentoring to 175 primary pupils since 2021. In the past year, 48 Kingswood mentors supported 50 younger pupils across Bath primary schools, developing empathy, confidence and leadership through weekly sessions and professional training. The programme continues to have a profound impact on both mentors and mentees, strengthening connections across the city.

The school’s 120-acre campus also welcomed thousands of local residents, from walkers on the Circuit of Bath for Julian House to guests at Connect Bath’s Christmas Lunch, helping over 6,000 people enjoy Kingswood’s facilities last year.

Internationally, the Kingswood community supported a range of projects, including Mbora, an Agri-FinTech social enterprise in Malawi. Donations helped fund a second outreach motorbike and solar irrigation pumps, improving crop yields and supporting communities.

Access and inclusion remain central to Kingswood’s mission. Over 100 donors helped provide 57 pupils with means-tested bursaries, transforming lives through education. As one bursary recipient, Terence who left Kingswood in 2024, said: “You are not just funding education - you’re changing lives. You changed mine.”

Mr Andrew Gordon-Brown, Principal, said: “Service to the community is one of our strategic pillars, and this report highlights the many ways our pupils engage locally and globally, guided by dedicated staff and supportive partners.”

Garrod Musto, Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement, added: “This report celebrates our students’ compassion, courage and leadership, from local mentoring and fundraising to international partnerships. Serving others is at the heart of who we are.”
