Kingswood is delighted that both the Prep and Senior Schools have been shortlisted in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2025, hosted by Independent School Parent magazine. These awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the UK’s independent sector, and it is a proud moment for the school community to be recognised in two categories.

The shortlisted entry from Kingswood Prep showcases its pioneering STEM programme. With Bath’s first dedicated school-based Innovation Centre, pupils enjoy hands-on learning across science, technology, engineering, art, and maths, from robotics and coding to dissection, ethical debate and 3D printing.

Headmaster of Kingswood Prep, Mr Mark Brearey, said: "This recognition reflects the passion and creativity of our pupils, and the dedication of our staff in building a STEM programme that truly prepares children for the future. It’s hands-on, thought-provoking and, above all, fun."

The Senior School’s Advanced Elective Programme has also been shortlisted, recognising a bold new approach to Sixth Form education. Launched in 2024, the programme offers university-style seminars in areas such as Innovation and Enterprise, Psychology, Financial Literacy, Creative Musicianship, International Relations and more. Designed to complement A-levels, the electives equip pupils with transferable skills and the confidence to thrive beyond a traditional classroom setting.

Headmaster of Kingswood School, Mr Andrew Gordon-Brown, said: "The Advanced Elective Programme reflects our ambition to stretch pupils academically while giving them the tools to succeed in higher education settings, the workplace, and in life. Being shortlisted is wonderful recognition of that vision."
