We hope you've been enjoying our #WeAreKingswood profiles in recent weeks!

Our Head of English, Emma Brown, sheds some light on life and learning at Kingswood and reveals if she prefers books or Kindles...

What motivates me?

Spreading joy. I love working with people of all ages and sharing my passion for reading. We all have a voice and we should all be given the tools to use it to express our thoughts and feelings. Reading helps us to understand the diverse and beautiful lives of others.

What do I do to relax?

I love spending time with my family. We love walking, movie nights, hanging out with our chickens in the garden and board games. I love to knit, crochet and sew. I (obviously) love reading. I find yoga and meditation extremely helpful as means of relaxation and reflection.

How would you describe being part of the Kingswood community?

Never, ever a dull moment! We are all so full of energy for learning and there is always an opportunity to try out a new activity, go to a talk or play a new sport. We never stop talking as we are always keen to share enthusiasms and experiences!

Physical book or Kindle?

I have both, I am not a philistine, but I would always prefer a physical book – Kindles don’t smell of anything, they don’t recover well when you drop them in the bath, you can’t lend them easily and I can’t prop up a wobbly table with one…

Dog or cat? Chicken

Pop or rock? Folk
