We enjoyed some cricketing weather on the week commencing 7 June which, despite some other disruptions, meant we managed 11 cricket matches.

Kingswood managed to win 9 of those 11 matches, starting with two good wins for our U14 teams against Beechen Cliff. Toby and James both produced fine all-round displays to claim a 9 wicket win against strong opposition. Archie was also very impressive with the ball.

For the Bs Max picked up two wickets in his first ever competitive match and Toby and Rajul saw the team to a comfortable victory with an unbeaten partnership of 80.

The U12s won all 5 of their matches, with the As winning 3. Seb, Mathijs, George and Jamie all produced some good performances.

For the Bs, Jack and Charlie both played well with the bat, but it is the depth of bowling and quality of fielding that has really caught the eye with this team.

The U13s enjoyed their first matches of the season but an impressive knock of 46 from Tom could not prevent a narrow loss against Colston’s. The Bs did manage a win, however, with Rowan and Harry performing well.

For the U15s, captain Sam deserves great credit for getting everyone fully involved and still managing a comfortable win. Joe and Will batted well but the highlight of the weekend was 3 well-deserved wickets for Aled in his first ever bowling spell for Kingswood.

In their first uninterrupted match, the 1st XI looked short of match practice. Despite promising starts from Angus, Tom and Joe, Kingswood’s total of 158 looked to be 40 light and this proved to be the case as Colston’s chased it down despite good bowling from the Year 11 pairing of Harry and Elliot.
