Year 2 pupils visited the STEAM Museum in Swindon last week.

At the museum, pupils enjoyed a workshop which involved role play. They acted out the great inventions and engineering of Robert and George Stephenson and Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

The pupils also became engineers, and worked in teams to dismantle and reconstruct models of famous steam trains, including the North Star.

The pupils also explored the museum’s interactive exhibits and were able to try driving a steam train, change the signals and move tracks from a signal box.

Staff and pupils also had the chance to walk underneath a steam train and see the intricate mechanical parts up close.

The children really enjoyed their visit and are excited to learn more about great inventions both from in their lifetime and the past.
