Kingswood To Host Women In Education Leadership Talk With Dr Jill Berry
We are delighted to be hosting a virtual talk for staff with Dr Jill Berry on Wednesday 5 May at 6pm – 7:30pm.
Jill taught for thirty years across six different schools in the UK, and was a head for the last ten. Since leaving headship she has completed a doctorate, researching the transition to headship; written a book: 'Making the Leap - Moving from Deputy to Head' (Crown House, 2016); and carried out a range of leadership consultancy work. She is an advocate for the opportunities presented by social media for networking and professional development, tweeting @jillberry102 and blogging at jillberry102.blog.
Jill was involved in #WomenEd from its inception in 2015, when her blog ‘Lost Leaders’ was part of the initial drive to found the initiative. She has spoken at every #WomenEd national conference, a number of regional and online #WomenEd events, and contributed a chapter on ‘Getting the job you dream of’ for the first #WomenEd book, ‘10% Braver: Inspiring women to lead education’.
Hosted via Zoom and open to all Kingswood staff, the session will consider why and how #WomenEd started and what it has achieved in terms of supporting women to have greater self-belief and courage, to step up to fresh challenges and embrace new opportunities. How can women and men support and encourage women to fulfil their professional potential, and to remove the barriers that might stand in the way? And what can women do to be 10% braver?' The session will also include an opportunity for questions.
