45 pupils and staff enjoyed an excellent three days of training on Dartmoor at the end of the Easter holiday. A combined DofE Gold and Ten Tors Practice expedition for Year 10 and Year 12 pupils saw four groups exploring both the North and South Moor.

Everyone walked well and developed their navigation and camp craft skills. The Ten Tors participants experienced 'wild camping' on the moor and all the pupils were self-sufficient for the whole of the three days.

The moor was fairly dry and the weather was reasonably kind. However, some pupils still managed to get stuck in bogs! The Dartmoor terrain remains as challenging as ever. Hopefully, the DofE participants are now prepared for their Lake District Expedition in the summer holidays and those selected for the Ten Tors teams are the for the Expedition in a fortnight.

Mr Davies would like to thank the staff who gave up their holiday time to help with the expedition.
