The Athletics Team travelled to Marlborough College last Saturday to compete against Marlborough, Harrow, St Edward’s Oxford, Brighton College, Downe House and Godolphin School. It was wonderful for the team to be back competing against some outstanding opposition and the atmosphere was fantastic throughout the whole day. Even the sporadic showers and hail could not dampen spirits.

The junior girls fielded an enthusiastic team who enjoyed their first taste of real competition - the girls learnt a lot and showed much potential. The inter girls fielded a much smaller team but both Clemmie and Alice enjoyed a good day. Alice did particularly well winning all three of her events and produced personal bests in the 80m hurdles and long jump.

The Senior girls had the most success on the day. The girls were brilliant role models and set an excellent standard both on and off the track. Edie came 2nd in the javelin and discus. Ciara and Zoe came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 100m and Emily and Grace dominated the middle-distance events.

Grace, Emily, and Evie took the podium places in the 1500m, and Grace also gained a 2nd place in the 800m. Liv produced some brave performances competing in the 100m hurdles and 400m coming a very creditable 3rd place in both.

Well done to all the athletes for some determined performances against strong opposition.
