Last Thursday, our Year 12 Geographers travelled to Porlock bay to complete their first day of fieldwork for the A Level course.

The skies cleared as they arrived at the coast and Mr Smyth took the students on a geographical journey through time and across the coastal system. Students had the opportunity to measure various elements of the coastline, carrying out some classic fieldwork techniques including transects, clast measuring and beach profiles to assess how the system changes spatially.

The staff remarked at how well the students engaged with the trip, enthusiastically embracing the data collection, which will have reinforced their learning as well as beginning to prepare them for the coursework component of the A Level course.
