In the first weekend of hockey fixtures, the 3rd XI were named Team of the Week after beating their Cheltenham counterparts 5-1. Ellie and Lizzie both scored braces in the game, with Abbey also getting on the scoresheet.

In the Junior teams, Ellie was the Player of the Match in an outstanding team performance for the U15Bs which saw them draw 1-1. Stevie’s goal was nearly enough to earn a victory, but a late equalizer denied Kingswood of what would have been a deserved win.

It was a tough block fixture for Kingswood’s Senior sides but despite the results, there were some impressive individual and collective performances against some well-drilled opposition.

The 4th XI had an encouraging win with goals from Ruth and Lottie sealing a good all-round team performance.

Lizzie and Jess were in fine form for the 1st XI who held their own against a strong Cheltenham side who were more clinical in front of goal.

Despite dominating for large parts of the match, the 2nd XI lost their game 3-2, but there were some impressive displays with Ana and Emily working tirelessly and Freya in fine form in goal.

Meanwhile, Westwood’s hockey players enjoyed a very productive training session which should help them in their preparation for their first fixtures next week against Bristol Grammar School.
