2nd XV Named Team Of The Week In Opening Weekend Of Rugby Season

There were some encouraging performances from Kingswood’s rugby teams in the opening weekend of the season.

The 2^nd XV were named Team of the Week in the closest match of the weekend. The lead changed hands four times as the 2^nd XV secured a 22-17 victory against their King Edward’s counterparts.

A well-organised King Edward’s team took the lead and proved difficult to break down until a smart chip over the defence from Oscar, who was named Man of the Match, enabled Matthew to gather and score under the posts. A solid defensive second half performance allowed the team to stay in front, thanks largely to an excellent forward effort.

Elsewhere, the 1^st XV showed excellent determination and character to push a highly-fancied King Edward’s team all the way in a narrow loss.

Both U16 and U14 teams had comfortable wins, with Bruin scoring a hat-trick for the U14As.
