Pre-Prep - Reception, Years 1-2
Known for its engaging family feel, our Pre-Prep curriculum helps children flourish by providing a supportive and exciting environment in which enthusiastic, imaginative teachers are passionately interested in their development.
In Reception and Years 1 and 2, we focus on celebrating the individual, which ensures that each child has the opportunity to discover and explore his or her unique talents. The children are encouraged to develop a ‘can-do’ attitude and a confidence that will allow them to thrive now and in their future lives.
Our classes are small, and each is supported by an experienced Teaching Assistant. The Pre-Prep facilities are vibrant and stimulating, and we make the most of our beautiful wooded grounds and fields to enhance topic work and to teach Passport to Learning lessons, which teach life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving and communication in an outdoor environment.
We are proud of our warm, friendly, family atmosphere and all that we achieve within it. We encourage you not to take our word for it but to come and see for yourself what makes our School so special.
The curriculum is carefully planned and delivered to ensure continuity and progression from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Prep in Year 3. As well as teaching the core subjects of Maths and English, we offer termly ‘Creative Curriculum’ topics. These are designed to inspire and engage the children by making them active participants in their own learning.
Each day, we encourage them to try new things, both inside and outside the classroom. Our subject specialists, who are all experts in their field, teach Music, French, Information and Computer Technology (ICT) and Sport. We organise frequent trips, workshops and visitors linked to our topics in order to stimulate the children’s imaginations and enhance their exploration of and learning about the world around them.
We greatly value our relationship with our children’s parents. We have an open-door policy and encourage a home-school link. We provide numerous opportunities throughout the year for parents to be involved in, and informed about, their child’s learning and well-being. In addition to the more formal parents’ evenings, we also encourage parent attendance at annual Christmas productions, music concerts, Sports Day, Languages Day and year-group assemblies. We also provide ‘I’m Proud of my Work’ days each term, on which your child/ren have the opportunity to show you their work.
