Kingswood is widely recognised as one of the top schools in the South West for sport and many of our students play at national and indeed international level. We are fortunate to have strong links with various clubs including Bath Rugby Club who run an elite rugby training facility for U18s, Bath University who run the national junior swimming training programme and attract swimmers from all over the South of England, City of Bath Hockey Club who use our facilities and many of our students also play for Bath Buccaneers one of the leading hockey clubs in the country and in the Premier League.
In addition, club coaching in hockey and netball is offered by Bath University giving our pupils the opportunity to perform at regional level. We have a link with Team Bath Netball where a player is seconded to Kingswood to coach all year round and inspire the girls in netball excellence. Cricketers regularly receive coaching from Somerset professionals and there are strong links with Bath Cricket Club. Our tennis players have strong links with Lansdown Tennis Club and access to their facilities and their coaches. Golf features prominently with two recent Kingswood students having qualified for the European Tour.
Our regular fixtures are run with other leading South West schools and the standard in the major teams is extremely high.
However, although we support gifted and talented sportsmen and women and help them fulfil their potential, our games philosophy at Kingswood is very much sport for all and to encourage all students, whatever their ability, to be the best that they can. We run A, B and C teams in all our major sports and also play D team fixtures whenever possible against other schools and the opportunity to work within a team and, for some students, to take the responsibility of leading sides, is seen as a very important life-skill.
