Kingswood School was inspected by the (ISI) Independent Schools Inspectorate, the body approved by the Department of Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to Independent Schools Council (ISC) Associations and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations.
The school was judged both to be fully compliant with all regulations as well as 'excellent' in all nine categories of the inspection:
The quality of pupils' achievements and learning; the contribution of curricular and extra-curricular provision; the contribution of teaching; the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils; the contribution of arrangements for pastoral care; the contribution of arrangements for welfare, health and safety; the quality of boarding; the quality of governance; and the quality of leadership and management, including links with parents, carers and guardians.
In being told that 'Kingswood is a very successful school which achieves excellence in all aspects of its provision', we were particularly pleased that the inspectors found 'a happy caring and disciplined environment in which pupils can realise their academic potential '. In noting that in recent years 'Results at A Level have been above the national average for maintained selective schools', both the quality of teaching and the excellent relationships between pupils and teachers received high praise. The programme of extra-curricular activities was described as 'outstanding' and seen as making a major contribution to the excellence of pupils' all-round personal development.
The overall picture of an ambitious school which achieves excellence in all areas underpinned by pastoral care which is of 'very high quality' pleased us greatly, and not least because it is so strongly supports our objective of aiming to achieve such excellence in a warm, caring and supportive environment.
