Kingswood School is situated on a magnificent 200 acre site in Lansdown, Bath and offers an inclusive, extended family day and boarding community, which is free of pretension and which balances academic rigour, strength in the arts and sport, traditional values and outstanding pastoral care with a forward thinking, can-do approach. Both the Prep School (3-11 years) and the Senior School (11-18 years) offer a broad, balanced holistic education and pupils are encouraged to develop self-assurance and high levels of personal motivation. In this environment pupils' achieve astonishing successes as they constantly realise well beyond their natural potential.
Academic results are consistently excellent. Last year Kingswood was ranked in the top 5% in the country for added-value and is in the top 10 co-educational boarding or boarding/day schools based on raw results. Virtually all students go onto university and 85% of all students this year achieved the coveted A*-B grades required for entry into Russell Group universities.
The school was rated as excellent in every category of its latest inspection, with teaching and learning, pastoral care, extra-curricular provision, boarding and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils all praised strongly by the inspection team.
The ethos of Kingswood is very much that of a boarding school - open all hours and a home from home atmosphere. Being flexible and supportive for working parents is very much part of the Kingswood ethos and day parents can take advantage of early morning breakfast, late stay with supper and prep or boarding overnight in one of our cosy and warm boarding houses, knowing their children are looked after and cared for, surrounded by friends.
There are over 100 co-curricular activities available to all pupils both during the week and at weekends. These include, amongst others, outdoor pursuits, Model United Nations, sustainability, fashion and textiles, climbing, script writing and jazz, ensuring there is something for everyone and students at Kingswood are encouraged to join in and develop as many new skills as possible.
The arts are extremely strong at Kingswood with excellent Art, Music, Drama and Design and Technology departments inspiring true creativity with the opportunities to both challenge existing principles and explore new concepts. Productions, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, award ceremonies, professional master classes and trips and visits ensure that the arts are celebrated at Kingswood and standards are consistently high.
Kingswood is widely recognised as one of the top schools in the South West for sport with students playing at both national and indeed international level. We are fortunate to have strong links with various professional clubs such as Bath Rugby and work with Team Bath at Bath University so that we can support gifted and talented sportsmen and women in helping them fulfil their potential. However our games philosophy at Kingswood is very much sport for all and to encourage all students, whether they be in the A, B C or D teams, to be the best they can.
Do come and visit and see for yourself what Kingswood has to offer and experience the school's friendly and warm community. We look forward to meeting you.
