On Sunday 25th June, 20 Year 11 students travelled to Exmoor to undertake a three day expedition for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh qualification. Despite their practice expedition being back in September, the groups quickly familiarised themselves with their routes and navigation, and were able to complete the first day from Bridgetown without too much error, arriving at Pool Bridge campsite in good time. The groups all demonstrated good camp craft, and dealt with the extremely annoying flies and midges that were in the campsite in high number.
The groups left camp early on day two and took a longer route along the coast from Porlock toward Lynmouth, with groups walking upwards of 10 hours across the day. On day three students were able to take a shorter route arriving in Simonsbath in good time to complete their expedition.
