Kingswood Off To A Great Start In Hockey Season

It was a busy start to the hockey season for Kingswood's boys as 16 teams turned out against Cheltenham College and Monkton Prep School. Kingswood won 10 of the matches and drew one which is an excellent return against two strong hockey schools.

All of the Year 7 teams won, with Will and Joe both scoring hat-tricks in a 6-2 win for the U12A's.

The 1st XI progressed to the second round of the National Cup with a 6-0 victory over Colstons. However, the U15A's earned Team of the Week with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Cheltenham College.

The U15A's, who lost 3-1 in this fixture last season, took a while to get going against a physical Cheltenham side and conceded 10 minutes into the match. The team then started to pass the ball nicely and Ciaran finished smartly from Tayo's cross to equalise just before half-time.

This momentum continued into the second half where the boys produced a benchmark performance for the rest of the season. They continued to pass the ball well, were well-connected in attack and defended resolutely. Cameron, Ed and Tom then played some excellent hockey to release Man of the Match Ciaran, who again slotted the ball past the keeper to secure the win. An excellent performance and a well-deserved victory.

The Hockey Club have also made their appointments for the season, naming Henry the Captain of Hockey with Alfie and Angus as vice-captains.
