Kingswood we were once again invited by the Friends of Woolley Church to take part in a concert aimed at raising money in order to maintain the upkeep of the exquisite building. The students took part in the annual visit to the picturesque village church just outside of Bath and there were plenty of superb solo performances from students across the school.
Senior Chorister, Ellie opened the concert as she sang 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and was followed by violinist Ruth with her rendition of 'Pastorale', which she performed just a few days earlier as part of her GCSE coursework.
Georgie, Lauren and Ellie beautifully sang the American folk song 'Shenandoah' and our third Senior Chorister, Elzi sang Adele's version of 'To Make You Feel My Love'. Rebecca impressed with her version of James Brown's classic song, 'It's a Man's World', and Alex and Menina, who were making their second performance of the day, performed a vocal duet of 'I Dreamed A Dream'.
There were also songs from Alix, Bella, Molly and notable atmospheric presentations from Ana's 'I Gave My Life For You' and Senior Chorister and Head Girl Grace singing 'Without You' from Ghost.
The audience was treated to 20 performances in all, with one member commenting that this year's was "the best ever". Daisy captured the audience's attention with her astonishing version of the virtuosic Chinese piece, "The Animal's World". Mia also played two movements from Handel's Sonata in F major with great skill. Georgie made her second appearance of the evening to play a spirited performance Bohm's 'Introduction and Polonaise' on violin.
The whole evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience made up of the villagers of Woolley, and staff and parents from Kingswood.
