Welcome From The President
Fellow Old Kingswoodians,
Welcome to your section of the School website. This is where you can keep up with School and Association news, find out about old school friends, engage with Association and Development Office projects and programs and, if you're so inclined, get involved with the Association by becoming a member of the Executive Committee - we're always on the lookout for new recruits, especially at this exciting point in the Association's long history.
Why's that? Well, for the first time the School is planning to appoint an Alumni Relations Officer to run the Association on a full-time, professional basis. This will enable us to be more proactive in keeping Old Boys and Girls engaged with the School. And importantly it will allow us to develop a range of products and services - mentoring, industry groups and talks, university groups, CV counselling and advice, an extended range of sports teams and new social events. The plan is to provide something useful and enjoyable for all Old Kingwoodian age groups and to broaden our embrace to include other friends of the School including, of course, current and past parents.
Rome wasn't built in a day, as someone once said, and this isn't going to happen overnight. But a healthy, productive, genuinely useful and enjoyable Association is a vital part of the overall health and vitality of the Kingwood community. Whether you left a long time ago or what feels like only yesterday, there's a huge amount of satisfaction and fun to be had from being connected. With your support and engagement, new energy in the Development and Marketing functions and our new 'OKRO' we're looking forward to a dynamic period of development for the Association.
And please, let us know what you think.
Membership is free and entitles you to participate in alumni events, benefit from networking with former colleagues, receive a copy of the Kingswood association magazine, be elected to the Executive Committee and support the next generation of alumni. Any former pupil who has completed a year at school is automatically a member and any former pupil who completed less than one year may apply to become a member.
The executive committee is responsible for the development of the strategy and for the day to day running of the Association. The committee meets at least once per term to approve the forthcoming events and review the events of the previous term to ensure that the Association meets the objectives laid down in the constitution.
The following serve on the Committee:
- the President, elected for a term of two or three years by a resolution at the annual general meeting (AGM).
- the Chairman, elected for a term of three years by a resolution of the Executive Committee.
- the Treasurer, elected for a term of one year by a resolution at the AGM.
- the Principal.
- Up to 11 additional members may be elected to serve on the Executive Committee for a period of three years.
- the past President.
- the representative of the association on the governing body
- the Treasurer of the Kingswood Association Trust Fund.
- the Director of Marketing and Development for Kingswood School.
We are always looking for enthusiastic alumni willing and able to get involved in events to step forward and nominate themselves for the committee.
