The J O Heap Library, staffed by Librarian, Kirsty Sutherland and Assistant, Jenny Passey, contains collections of books, E-books, audiobooks, films, journals and digital resources provided to support the teaching and learning at Kingswood School. It is a quiet place where students and staff can enjoy a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere in which to read, learn and research.
The Digital Library has hundreds of titles which can be downloaded to personal Android, Apple, Kindle Fire, Chromebook and other compatible E-reader devices. If a student does not have a personal device, we have Mini Kobo readers which may be borrowed from the Library. All staff and students have access to the online Library catalogue where they can search for any of our resources.
There are a variety of journals, magazines and newspapers to read in the Library, ranging from titles such as New Scientist and National Geographic to Wired and Rugby World.
Staff and students may recommend new resources for the Library at any time and we work hard to maintain an up-to-date and interesting print and digital stock.
As well as supporting individual students' learning, the Library welcomes classes whether for research projects or reading lessons. A-Level students completing coursework or an Extended Project Qualification also use the Library on a regular basis.
The Library is very popular and is well supported by the Kingswood School community. It is in constant use from first thing in the morning until the end of the school day. It is also available to boarders later in the evenings and at the weekends.
