This year, the Kingswood community has donated 282 advent calendars to Bath Foodbank, almost 100 more than last year’s campaign.

Kingswood has had a regular foodbank basket for almost two years and in November 2016-17, the School donated over half a tonne of food to the Foodbank with news of this year’s total to be announced soon.

Mrs Catherine Nash, Head of Drama and Theatre, who organises the campaign, commented: “In the lead up to Advent we have collected chocolate advent calendars and are delighted this year to have collected over 270!”

“Kingswood has also contributed to the Cake Sale in the Bath Abbey in aid of the Genesis Trust and theatre audiences have raised nearly £2000 in the last two years through retiring charity collections at all Drama events.”

“In addition, Summerhill House organise care packages at Christmas which are distributed through Genesis, Julian House and directly to the homeless people of Bath.  We are very proud of our connection with the Foodbank and hope to continue supporting them for many years to come.”

The advent calendars will be donated to Bath Foodbank which has reported a 36% increase in three-day emergency food supplies compared to the previous year and have provided over 1300 meals to children in 2017/2018.
