Members of the Kingswood community, guests and individuals from the local art industry gathered to celebrate the work of the School’s Art and Design and Technology students at the ‘Made in Kingswood’ exhibition.

Located in the Farnworth Art Centre and Design and Technology building, the exhibition was a showcase of the wonderful art and design work GCSE and A-Level students have produced this year.

Kingswood also welcomed Nick Woodhouse and John Law, Joint Directors of Bath-based interior and garden design company Woodhouse and Law, who spoke to students and guests about how their passion for the visual arts has guided their career paths.

During the exhibition, a number of awards were presented to celebrate pupils’ individual achievements.  Headmaster of Kingswood Senior School, Simon Morris, said: “We value the creative arts hugely at Kingswood and it is a real delight to see the students’ outstanding work displayed in this way. The quality is stunning and shows what can be achieved when exceptional teaching supports such immense talent.”

Head of Art, Mr Stephen Brown, said: “This year’s summer exhibition has been a great success, showcasing the extensive range of creativity by Kingswood pupils. The combined exhibition of both GCSE and A-Level work represents the high level of individuality and imagination promoted within the Art Department.”

Head of Design and Technology, Mr Barney Brown, said: “The design department is in a unique position of asking pupils to be creative, problem-solving and to design items to be made in a workshop by their own hand, and also to fit this into a modern manufacturing world.”

The exhibition is a celebration of Year 11 GCSE and Year 13 A-Level work and it is a testament to all the hard work that the students have put in throughout the year that the work looks so professional. Each year Kingswood has students who want to go on to study in all fields of creative endeavour from art college and design degrees to architecture and engineering.
