The Sport And Well-Being Hub

With the Sports Centre already being a hive of activity throughout the week, the new development will increase capacity and the variety of opportunities available to our pupils concerning health & well-being.

It will truly become a hub for sport and well-being, including: a sports hall, large gym, a pilates/dance/yoga study, quiet courtyard entrance with water feature, natural light, natural resources (wood, sun, glass, bath stone & grey slate), change rooms, PE classroom and Sport office.

Why Are We Planning On Building A Health And Fitness Centre?

The school has grown in size, but the on-site sporting facilities have not. With indoor space at a premium and a huge increase in interest in “new” physical activities such as strength and conditioning (S&C), yoga, dance and pilates, we currently do not have the facilities to cope. It is proposed that through the development of The Hub we will be able to best support a diverse range of pupils and encourage physical activity and well-being.

Will The New Building Allow Us To Provide A Different/Better Experience For Our Pupils?

Certainly! The new facility will open up a range of new opportunities for our pupils, and serve the current demand for a larger gym space and a multi-purpose studio. The proposed development will be visually attractive, and become a strong feature in the centre of the Kingswood campus.

What Will The Impact Be For The Pupils?

Since the introduction of strength and conditioning at Kingswood a few years ago, interest and engagement in it has increased at an exponential rate. The current gym and studio (converted squash court) are used by pupils who want to improve their sporting performance but equally, if not more, use the facility as they enjoy exercising with their friends and reap the health-related benefits.

The proposed facility will provide an opportunity for more pupils to engage in this positive environment, and also provide crucial space for additional activities. The creation of the upstairs sunlit studio will allow the yoga provision to expand into a new venue. The multi-purpose capacity of the studio will support many other activities as well as our PE curriculum. With this new development, the pupils at Kingswood will experience facilities that are industry leading as we take our place amongst the elite independent schools in terms of health & well-being facilities.
