Kingswood students continue to achieve outstanding academic success at both GCSE and A Level, reflecting their ambition, intellectual curiosity and the breadth of opportunity offered across the School.
At A Level, students delivered impressive results across 23 A Level and BTEC subjects, with particularly strong performances in Further Maths (89% A*–B), Computer Science (88% A*–B), History and Biology (87% A*–B), RPE (85% A*–B), Politics and Economics (82% A*–B) and Design Technology (80% A*–B). A number of subjects — including Drama, German, Latin, Music and Spanish — achieved a clean sweep of 100% A–B*.
Just as importantly, Kingswood students are progressing confidently to their next steps. 95% secured a place at their first-choice university, with 100% of Oxbridge, Medical, Veterinary Science and apprenticeship offer-holders confirming their destinations. Leavers are moving on to a wide range of highly competitive courses and institutions, including Aerospace Engineering at the University of Surrey, PPE at UCL, Medicine at the University of Bristol, Classics at the University of Cambridge, Music at King’s College London, Geography at Newcastle University, alongside degree apprenticeships. At GCSE, Kingswood achieved its strongest results on record. An exceptional 78% of I/GCSE grades were awarded at Levels 9–7, including 24% at Level 9, with over half (51%) at Levels 9–8. Individual outcomes were equally striking: 21 students achieved nine or more grades at 9–8, including two students who secured 11 grade 9s.
Success was seen across all 20 GCSE subjects, demonstrating both academic depth and breadth. Biology and Physics recorded over 95% of grades at 9–7, while Geography, Maths, Music, RPE and Chinese each achieved over 80% of grades at 9–7.
These results reflect a sustained upward trajectory and Kingswood’s consistent academic strength since the return of national grading following the COVID-19 disruption. They are all the more impressive when set alongside the contribution students make beyond the classroom – excelling in sport across all three terms, delivering outstanding drama and musical performances, leading social justice and STEM initiatives, achieving national competition success and completing Duke of Edinburgh awards.
As Principal Andrew Gordon Brown explains:
“At Kingswood, academic excellence is one vital part of a holistic education that transforms lives. Our students leave us exceptionally well prepared – intellectually, personally and socially – to flourish in the years ahead.”
