The Dixon Sixth Form Centre lies at the heart of sixth form life at Kingswood. Every student is allocated a study within the building, which they will normally share with two other pupils. Studies provide a base for sixth formers, and are where many students chose to work during their study periods (The Library is also available for sixth form study throughout the day, with a section reserved exclusively for sixth form use). Three kitchens allow students to enjoy drinks and snacks during the day, and the newly refurbished Creed Room provides a common room space where sixth formers can meet and socialise.
Sixth formers work with staff in making decisions about how the Dixon Centre should operate on a day-to-day basis, and the Sixth Form Council provides an opportunity for sixth formers to air their views on school issues. In giving students greater freedom and responsibility to manage their own learning within the framework of a school environment, the Dixon Sixth Form Centre provides an excellent bridge between school and university.
