After two successful events the pupils of Kingswood School invite you to a Fundraising Dinner on Saturday 18 September 2010 in Kingswood School Dining Hall at 7.00pm, with Master of Ceremonies Gareth Chilcott. Tickets £30 per ticket or £55 a pair; large tables are available on request.

Students at Kingswood School have again achieved outstanding results at A Level. With 17% of all grades at A*, 60% at A*-A, 85% A*-B, 95% at A*–C and a 100% pass rate, this has been another record year for Kingswood at A level.

New national record set in Youth Championship Swimming Contest

Congratulations to Amelia Maughan who has just set a new national record on the first day of the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships (50m) in Sheffield.

Amelia Maughan clocked 56.51secs in the final heat of the girls 14/17yrs 100m freestyle. She lowered the previous record, which had been held for nearly six years by Fran Halsall, by more than three tenths of a second. Amelia then went on in the evening session to qualify fastest for the final, although her time of 56.66 was slower than the morning's display.

She said: "The time was really good considering I've been trying to reach it all year. I had just hoped to get under 57 seconds but I just felt really strong so I thought just kill it! It was a great swim and I've been looking for it for ages because I didn't get a record last year."

We shall look forward to congratulating Amelia on her return to Kingswood in September.

Kingswood School Art Department was proud to exhibit their A level students work this year at the prestigious Chapel Row Gallery. In a change to the usual show the Upper and Lower Sixth were able to present their work in a truly professional environment.

Former Kingswood pupil, now Open debutant Laurie Canter [KS 2001-08], has been getting advice on how to deal with the biggest week of his career from a fellow Bath golfer. Canter, 20, will be rubbing shoulders with the world's greatest players at St Andrews this weekend after claiming one of only three qualification places. Cumberwell Park touring professional Steve Surry qualified for last year's Open Championship in a similar way and Canter was quick to ask him for tips on what to expect.

Headmaster's XI finishes an excellent cricket season

On Saturday 12 June, Kingswood Theatre hosted the Seventh Annual KATS Awards (Kingswood's Artistically Talented Students). This is most definitely one of the most glamorous highlights of the school calendar, and almost 140 pupils, staff, governors and guests graced the venue in their best dinner jackets and posh frocks.

Kingswood pupils bring more hope to Hope and Homes for Children

Locally-based international charity Hope and Homes for Children is £2,700 better off thanks to the efforts of pupils at Kingswood School. The majority of the proceeds came from the sales of a DVD/CD that Kingswood's musicians and artists made on a trip to the beautiful Scottish Castle of Carbisdale. The DVD/CD contained over 20 newly composed songs and videos, as well as 40 pieces of artwork inspired by the wonderful Scottish landscape.
