Admissions Policy and Procedures
The overriding principle regarding entry to Kingswood Prep School at any stage is that offers of places will be made to those pupils who are, in the opinion of the Headmaster, most suited to the style of education provided at Kingswood. His judgement will be based on a number of factors including where applicable, entrance assessment papers, school reports and personal interviews.
No boy or girl will be disadvantaged in any of the admissions procedures as a result of disability, religion or ethnicity. All admissions are made in accordance with the School Admissions Policy. A copy of our current Policy can be downloaded at the bottom of this section.
The basic guideline to entry at Kingswood Prep School is as follows:
1. A Registration Form is completed and the Registration Fee is paid.
2. School visits or Assessment Papers are taken (as appropriate to the Year Group of Entry).
3. For successful applicants the offer of a place will be made.
4. If the place is accepted, an Acceptance Form is completed and the required Acceptance Deposit paid.
5. A Moving on Morning is arranged for the Summer Term to which new pupils are invited to attend.
For applications from overseas, please see our International Students section.
To formally apply for a place at Kingswood Prep School, families are requested to complete a Registration Form which is available from the Admissions Secretary or on-line from this website. The form should be completed and returned to the Admissions Secretary at Kingswood Prep School, together with a registration fee of £100.00. This is not refundable.
Kingswood Prep School is very much a 'family school' and wherever possible, the Headmaster will wish to offer places to siblings as a priority, providing he believes that Kingswood Prep School is the right school for each individual child. All candidates must satisfactorily complete our entrance assessments in the usual way.
We operate a waiting list for late applications, which will be considered if places become available.
If you wish your child to be considered for entry to the Prep School you will first need to complete a registration form along with the non-returnable registration fee. We only ask for assessment papers to be completed for entry into Years 3 – 6. These papers are usually taken at Kingswood Prep School but can be taken at the candidate's current school when based in the UK together with the agreement of the relevant school.
For overseas pupils again it is possible for papers to be sent for administering at the child's current school, or they can be sat under the supervision of a registered Kingswood Agency or at the offices of the British Council. You will find below information for each entry point which can be downloaded. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Secretary who will be very happy to help you.
