Gifted and Talented
We aim to develop every pupil’s positive potential across a wide range of abilities. Our definition of ability recognises academic, practical, creative, musical, physical, sporting and social performance. It also recognises that a pupil may possess this potential even when performance does not currently reflect this.

Kingswood does all that it can to provide opportunities, through its mainstream academic and pastoral systems, and its extra-curricular programme of activities, that ensure that the skills and understanding of all our pupils may progress at an appropriate pace. We are committed to raising the achievement of all our pupils.

At Kingswood we work to ensure that exceptionally able students are identified and provided for accordingly. We also present opportunities for all pupils to take an active part in their own learning and we encourage independent enquiry. Our teachers take pleasure in offering academic challenge, support and guidance to enquiring minds.

We undertake regular monitoring and review of resources as well as the provision made for, and progress of, individual pupils. Providing appropriately for the very able is, ultimately, an issue of equal opportunities. Our very able students feel welcome and comfortable in our school community because we recognise and encourage achievement, we support their academic and pastoral needs, and we celebrate success.
