Lower Sixth Art Trip 2009
Over the weekend of 11th September the Lower Sixth Art group set off on thier coursework trip to Devon. This was a new venture; in previous years the groups had gone to Cornwall so staff and pupils alike were excited by the prospect of somewhere new. Having previously visited the Kurt Jackson exhibition in Bath, the pupils were primed for some expressive landscape painting.
We stayed at Aller Farm in Stockland, set in the picturesque rolling Devon countryside. The farm is part of a franchise called ‘Featherdown Farms' where guests are provided with very comfortable eco tents. The canvas roofed wooden tents, complete with toilet, kitchen area and wood burning stove, certainly made an impression on the students as they eagerly rushed to obtain the best bedrooms!
Over the weekend the students were given the opportunity to work in many contrasting locations en plein air on river banks and at the glorious Lyme Regis coastline. We all had a fantastic time producing some excellent work which can be seen in our exhibition on the slopes down to Upper House. The Art Department would like to thank the students for their exceptional behaviour, great company and hard work over the weekend.
