Kingswood Music on YouTube

Kingswood musicians star in a new pop video with some of the most legendary rock musicians in the world.

A video to accompany the BBC Children in Need's single All You Need Is Love has just been released on YouTube. Kingswood School helped to record the single which is released on 9th November. The 60-strong orchestra and singers share the limelight with some of the biggest names in the music business including Peter Gabriel, Brian May from Queen, Nick Mason from Pink Floyd, Hugh Cornwell from the Stranglers, Bill Wyman from the Rolling Stones, Heather Small from M People, and Sting's pianist Jason Rebello! There are scores of other celebrities including Hayley Westenra, Lee Mead, Anthony Head, Ade Edmonson, and scores of top session musicians such as Pee Wee Ellis on sax and Guy Barker on trumpet. All of Kingswood's performers recorded the video at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London back in September, and are incredibly excited at appearing on a real pop video.

Laura Cross, leader of the orchestra, said “It's like a dream come true! It was exciting enough to perform at Abbey Road, but to see the professional end product is just amazing!”

As well as performing on the single All You Need Is Love, the orchestra and singers also recorded We All Stand Together and the Beatles' classic Goodnight. All of these will appear on the BBC Children in Need double album entitled Bandaged Together.

Director of Music, Richard Mainwaring, is delighted with the whole project. “This has been an amazing journey for these lucky musicians at Kingswood. To be invited to record a track for such a prestigious charity is a great privilege. But to then record at Abbey Road, feature on two other tracks, and top it all with such a wonderfully up-beat professional video is something none of us will forget.”
