Horseless Riders

On Sunday 4th October 42 girls from Summerhill, several more from Fonthill, a team of Kingswood mothers and 8 members of staff joined 1000+ competitors to take part in the ‘Horseless Rider' running event at Badminton in which participants tackle the cross country course, jumps and all, without the benefit of being on horseback! All of the girls completed the 5 mile course, including the gruelling water jump - much longer than anticipated! Lots of creativity had gone into making some fabulous costumes – cave girls, cowgirls, penguins and ‘pink people' to name a few, and the Kingswood mums' team wore their daughters' school uniform with pride! The 9 mile course staff team of Mrs Dawson, Mrs Heseltine, Miss Beale and Mrs Baker won their race to be presented with the winners' trophy for the fourth year in a row. We'd like to think that the boys might join in next year! Many thanks to those who came along to support – your cheers really kept us all going! Money was raised for ‘Help For Heroes' and House charities.
