ICT
ICT at Kingswood
To equip students for life in a world where they will increasingly need technological and information literacy skills, ICT is taught as a discrete subject and also regularly incorporated into other areas of the curriculum.
Years 7 and 8
Students follow the Independent Schools Examination Board (ISEB) specification. It enables them to gain knowledge and practical use of ICT skills relevant to their everyday learning experiences, as well as laying solid foundations for future ICT courses at higher levels.
Year 9
We aim to ensure that every pupil obtains an ICT qualification and currently follow the Key Skills syllabus. This requires students to complete an examination and a portfolio of work demonstrating their use of ICT as a tool in other subjects.
Years 10 and 11
GCSE gives students the opportunity to develop further their practical skills and increase their understanding of the use of ICT in a range of working environments.
Sixth Form
A level is offered to students interested in advances in technology and/or who want to use ICT to support other qualifications. The courses also allow them to develop a broad range of ICT skills, knowledge and understanding which could form a basis for progression into further learning, and/or employment.
