The Friends of Kingswood's Feel Good Fest!
On Saturday evening, 8 May 2010, the Friends of Kingswood were treated to one of the most spectacular concerts of recent years. Over 60 instrumentalists and almost 30 singers graced the stage at this year's
Feel Good Fest. Accompanied by the 20-strong Cheese Strings and amazing Kingswood Jazz Orchestra, the singers performed 25 songs including numbers such as
Why Do Fools Fall in Love, Dancing in the Street,
Lovely Day,
That's the Way I Like It, Uptown Girl, Can You Feel It, What a Feeling, Disco Inferno, Material Girl and
Let Me Entertain You. All of the performances from singers and instrumentalists alike were superb. Many of Kingswood's most experienced singers were on show such as Hannah Bishay, Alex Bevan, Ellie Hobbs, Lauren Kelly, Anna Nicholson, Amy Greene, Olivia Dellow, Charlie O'Connor, Hattie Richardson, Jess Bishay, Emily Crowe, Elliot Haines, Elena Barnard and Verity Smout. However, it was very encouraging to see so many new vocalists making their debuts at such a prestigious gig – these included Sam Mumford, Rosie Dixon, Evie Beaven, Emily Clarke, Oscar Nowlan, Charlie Price, Miles Taylor, Ollie Meyer, Ben Holden, Emily Mitchell, Rebecca Nicholson and Emma Williams.
The dance floor was packed throughout the evening as parents, staff and pupils danced the night away to some of the most uplifting popular songs of all time. The band and vocalists were supported by a great backstage crew, and the in-house catering team provided a wonderful meal. The gig will be repeated at Green Park Station on Friday 28 May as part of the opening night of the Bath International Music Festival. Admission is free, and the show will commence at 6.30pm.
