Kingswood leads the way in on-line learning!

Nicola McNee, Librarian at Kingswood School, was recently invited to speak at the BectaX Conference in London.  BextaX is the Government body which promotes technology in learning and BectaX (exchange) is the start of a conversation between digital media specialists, educational professionals and policy makers about the future of learning through ICT in schools.

"I was asked to give a 'warts and all' practitioner's account of a study skills course that I run for Year 11 pupils which involves using on-line social media.  It was a very exciting event because, as well as the 150 delegates in the room, it was also broadcast on line with 15 schools from around the UK participating through Twitter and web-streaming of the event."

The conference was the start of a process for schools to find new models of learning for our connected world.  Nicola’s course for Year 11 pupils is breaking new ground by using social collaborative media sites, such as ‘Bubbl.us’  - a mind mapping tool on-line.  She has a very active blog on the School website and writes about the things she is learning as she experiments with the new media in education.  Follow this link for more details:
