Kingswood School A level students exhibit at the Chapel Row Gallery
Kingswood School Art Department was proud to exhibit their A level students work this year at the prestigious Chapel Row Gallery. In a change to the usual show the Upper and Lower Sixth were able to present their work in a truly professional environment.
Students and staff worked hard setting up the show on the Friday in preparation for the opening the next day. After a very busy short opening during the day on Saturday 3 July it was time to prepare for the formal opening. Many thanks to Kingswood's caterers for preparing and delivering food and drink. A special thank also to Mrs Brooker who provided delicious sweet trays of meringue and marbled chocolate. The whole evening was a massive success with well over 125 people passing through the exhibition and enjoying the wonderful work.
The exhibition remained open for the following three days allowing members of the public and staff to visit. It was a tremendous experience and the feedback has been over whelming with a large number of the students in the position to sell their work and to even undertake future commissions.
April Kwok's sculptural piece has been requested to be put on display at the screening of a new film in October in Bath regarding the plight of the Morecambe cockle pickers. Her piece echoes the conditions and promises made to misguided or duped immigrants and will only amplify the message and imagery in the film.
