Kingswood Prep School's Annual Muscial Production - "Honk"

Adolescent ducklings, a squadron of geese, warty frogs, a domesticated chicken and a chattering moorhen were among the many characters that graced the stage of Kingswood Prep School’s annual musical production.  Honk!’, a humorous version of the Ugly Duckling story, carries the message that it is more than all right to be different. It was directed by Mrs Jackie Cross (Head of Music) and Mrs Marie McGlynn (Head of Drama) and was a collaborative venture with the Art and DT departments, involving all children in Years 4 to 6. As well as throwing themselves into the acting and singing, the pupils were also responsible for designing scenery and making props.

The delight of the appreciative audience was clear, as was the excitement shown in the eyes of the performers. Lead roles were maturely and splendidly interpreted by Nick Harris (Ugly), Florence O’Connor (The Cat) and Jess Brown (Ida). Equally impressive was the quality of the supporting cast who remained in character from the moment they stepped on to the stage. Accompanied by some catchy songs, sparkly face paints, snazzy costumes, scary sound effects and even a snow machine, this production was an especially memorable and enjoyable one. Honk!
