Kingswood Prep School Year 4 Trip to Hooke Court
Standing in the rain the day after we returned from Hooke Court we could hardly believe how lucky we had been for our Year 4 Residential trip. Three dry sunny days made for a near perfect time. The first day was spent dashing around the grounds of Hooke Court orienteering, facing the challenges of the low ropes course and, as evening fell, becoming detectives and solving a difficult mystery which involved a great deal of running and a final spooky surprise. The following day, in warm hazy sunshine, we walked from Charmouth to Lyme Regis fossil hunting as we went. We picnicked on the sea front, went rock pooling on Broad Ledge and found an exciting variety of crabs and other sea creatures; we played on the beach and finally all of us ate large ice creams. On our last day the children became detectives of a different kind when they took part as archaeologists in a Time Team dig. Very professionally, they excavated a trench, finding and identifying artefacts and the foundations of a building. Their enthusiasm and energy was boundless for the whole three days and their behaviour was also exemplary.
