Who we are
The Friends of Kingswood Prep School (FOKPS) is a friendly, enthusiastic fundraising and social committee. FOKPS is comprised of a group of like minded parents at the school, who work in partnership with the school to organise a number fundraising and social events throughout the academic year.
Our Aims
To provide a number of fun social events during the school year for parents and families at the school to come together and make all of them feel welcome and part of the Kingswood community
To raise funds to enrich the school and provide those ‘extras’ that would typically fall outside the school budget
What does the money get spent on?
We receive a wide variety of requests and are happy to consider them all no matter how large or small. Requests are discussed and funding allocation agreed at the committee meetings which are held twice a term.
Some recent examples of projects we have supported and items purchased:
· Contributed to the cost of the new School Playground, to provide some exciting additions to the equipment that all the children could benefit and enjoy daily.
· Fully funded the provision of an outdoor classroom in the Secret Garden
· Contributed to the funding of new sound system at the Kingswood theatre
· Funded new sound and lighting equipment to compliment the new stage at the Prep School
· Purchased a new digital camcorder
· Purchased some new play equipment for nursery and Pre-Prep
· Funded some woodland workshops for the children to introduce them to their new outdoor classroom
What social events are there?
We host a wide range of social events and activities during the year, both large and small, many of which are now firm favourites and seen as an integral part of school life. Typical examples are:
· Fireworks night
· Christmas Fayre
· Quiz nights
· Themed dinner and dance
· Summer BBQ
· Coffee mornings
· Children’s Disco
· Running the bar at the Kingswood theatre and providing refreshments for parents at other school productions.
Nearly New Uniform Shop
This is another Friends initiative to provide families with the opportunity to buy and sell quality nearly new items of school uniform, and sports equipment. The uniform shop is open on Monday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am
How can I get involved?
Just come along either to one of our coffee mornings or to one of our meetings, dates of both are published in the school calendar. Alternatively have a chat with one of your parent Year Reps. Joining the Friends is a great way to meet other parents and to quickly get to know the School if you are new.
