Opportunities for Service
Many boys and girls are given the opportunity to represent their peers on the School Council and others play a leading role as Captains and Vice-Captains of sporting teams or as their equivalents in Music, such as Head Chorister and Leader of the School Orchestra. Serving the needs of others extends beyond the school community and many boys and girls undertake service roles outside school. One example of this is the School's links to Open Arms, an infant home in Blantyre, Malawi, where some of our sixth formers undertake various projects biennially.
Learning to help others and acquire leadership skills is very important; Kingswood tries to encourage this by allowing our boys and girls to undertake a variety of opportunities for service within the school community. These include acting as Westwood Monitors (Year 8), Assistants at our Prep School boarding house (Year 9), House Assistants (Year 10), Assistant Prefects (Year 11), Westwood, ICT, and other Prefects (Lower Sixth) and Senior Prefects (Upper Sixth).
