Widening Horizons

A good school does not educate its pupils only to feel secure in a school environment, it prepares them for the world in which they will live so that they can be fulfilled and successful adults. Widening horizons beyond what happens in school is therefore central to the education Kingswood offers.

All aspects of our education feed into this: academic subjects aim to show their relevance to the world in which we live; Chapel serves as a constant reminder of the needs of the wider community; personal, social and health education and citizenship programmes contribute to a better understanding of ourselves and how we relate to what is happening in society; careers and higher education programmes extend students' vision over what options are open to them after school; tours and trips generate greater understanding of other regions and cultures.

The very fact that we are a school not only with strong local links but also strong national and international links (through Methodism) means that we draw pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and countries. This, too, helps in this process of widening horizons.
