Our Project Manager, Mr Ray Brown, reports on progress as follows:
"The contractors are now fully mobilised and have been helped by the dry and sunny weather that has prevailed for the last few weeks. The first floor slab and concrete ring beam is in place and the laminated timber frame sections are on site and being assembled. These will form features as part of the internal finish and so must be looked after during construction. The staircase is in place and the individual rooms on the ground floor are taking shape.
Preparation for the new roof on the new extension
The next significant event will be the delivery of large timber roof panels that fit between the timber frame sections. A crane will be on site early in May so that the panels can be lifted into place. Let’s hope for a calm day as wind would cause the operation to be aborted.
Work begins on the re-shaping and development of the existing pavilion
Having handed over the existing pavilion to the contractors they have wasted no time in removing windows and demolishing walls so that work can advance in parallel with the new part, as it reaches roof level. Slate roofing and completing the water tightness of the structure will be the challenge to complete during the month of May."
