Year 10 GCSE Art Trip to Wells Reclamation Yard
On a surprisingly cold May Tuesday morning the Year 10 students boarded the minibus for an inspirational visit to Wells Reclamation Yard. Wells Reclamation Company was one of the first established reclamation yards dealing in architectural salvage in the country. It is a family run business that was started in 1985 and is situated in five and a half acres of ground in the open countryside, three miles from the ancient town of Glastonbury and two miles from The City of Wells in Somerset
. The initial reaction upon arriving was one of amazement as the students were quite surprised by the amount and variety of products for sale and on display; it was more akin to walking into a museum than a shop! Everything from oak doors, marble worktops and dragons through to telephone boxes, bespoke kitchens and Russian tanks!
The students sketched and gathered images for their portfolio coursework project. We shall post their achievements at a later date on completion!!
We would like to thank Wells Reclamation (www.wellsreclamation.com) for their kind welcome and allowing us to work on site.
